DESIGNATED AREA MIGRATION AGREEMENT (DAMA)
DAMA is an employer sponsored visa program. This program can not be used for independent skilled migration. Under the DAMA framework, employers in designated areas experiencing skills and labour shortages can sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers.
Features of DAMA programs are:
1. Concession in English language proficiency requirement for some of the occupations
2. Pathway to permanent residency
3. No caveat on any occupations listed under this program
4. Salary concession or as per the Northern Territory market rate
Requirement for the business to access DAMA
1. Actively operating in Northern Territory for at least 12 months
2. No adverse information about the employer
3. Demonstrate the position cannot be filled locally with Australian citizen or PR
4. Terms and conditions offered to the employee should not be less favourable than the Australian workers if employed in the region.
