South Australia skilled visa nomination for 190 and 491
South Australia nominates skilled people for the permanent Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the regional Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491).
Is South Australia nomination open right now?
South Australia has closed its previous program and will reopen Registrations of Interest when the new program year starts. Check the official Skilled and Business Migration SA site for the opening date.
What visas can South Australia nominate?
- Subclass 190 — permanent residence.
- Subclass 491 — five-year provisional regional visa.
You still need at least 65 points on the federal points test.
How does South Australia select people?
South Australia ranks Expressions of Interest and considers priority sectors first. High-ranking applicants outside priority sectors may still be invited. There is no single published points formula. You do not choose the visa — South Australia matches you to 190 or 491 based on your occupation and profile.
What do I need to do?
- Confirm your occupation is on the current South Australia list.
- Have a valid skills assessment and an accurate SkillSelect EOI with South Australia as your first preference.
- When the program opens, submit a Registration of Interest if you are onshore.
- If invited, apply for nomination within the time given.
