Queensland skilled visa nomination for 190 and 491

Queensland nominates skilled people for the permanent Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the regional Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491).

Is Queensland nomination open right now?

Queensland’s previous program places have filled and it is awaiting settings for the new program year. Check the official Migration Queensland site for the opening date and any new eligibility rules.

What visas can Queensland nominate?

  • Subclass 190 — permanent residence.
  • Subclass 491 — five-year provisional regional visa.

You still need at least 65 points on the federal points test and a suitable skills assessment.

How does Queensland select people?

Queensland assesses Registrations of Interest together with your SkillSelect EOI. It does not publish a fixed points ranking formula. Selection is at Migration Queensland’s discretion and depends on places available and occupation demand.

What do I need to do?

  1. Confirm your occupation is on the current Queensland list for the pathway you want.
  2. Have a valid skills assessment and an accurate SkillSelect EOI.
  3. When the program opens, submit a new Registration of Interest if required.
  4. If invited, apply for nomination and then lodge the visa with the Department.
