If you havenÂ’t had a fall from a horse, then youÂ’re probably not ready for the hands-on experience of Lakeland CollegeÂ’s western ranch and cow horse program.
You’ll spend part of every day working with your horse. But this course isnÂ’t just about riding. ThereÂ’s a combination of equine husbandry and beef production. For example youÂ’ll learn how to provide basic hoof care for horses, stable management and how to identify and treat diseases of beef cattle.
You will train your horse to be a working horse. As a team youÂ’ll learn how to handle cattle in a low stress manner. YouÂ’ll also be in the classroom for agricultural mathematics, general agronomy, and range and forage
